Energy Consultants of Wisconsin has served as an integral source for solar, electrical and lighting services in the upper Midwest since 1989. Over the past 30+ years, we’ve built a great reputation as a trusted brand that values the needs of our clients.
All ECW Site Foremen are certified Master Electricians and are experts at handling complex electrical jobs. Although our primary focus is energy-efficient lighting, we also provide solar energy services and are one of Southeast Wisconsin’s premier authorities in solar panel installations. Our diverse offerings are available for both residential and commercial customers, with each segment presenting unique opportunities for ECW craftsmanship. All ECW services are conducted with environmental conservation in mind, and our conservation efforts have paid dividends in the communities we serve.
ECW was founded by Jeff Gruetzmacher in Grafton, Wisconsin. Since starting the business, Jeff has employed countless family and friends within the community. In 2017, Jeff’s oldest son Kurt took over ownership of the business. He continues a strong legacy of outstanding customer service and top-tier electrical work.
Meet The Team
Kurt Gruetzmacher
Owner & Operator
Kurt grew up learning about solar, lighting and electrical services as his father founded ECW during his childhood. In his 20+ years with ECW, Kurt has taken on a variety of roles including installations, sales and project management. He also acquired a solar installation certification from the Midwest Renewable Energy Association.
Today, Kurt focuses primarily on project management for the business, setting up jobs with the tools needed for successful lighting, solar and electrical installations. He also manages many administrative facets of the business, including inventory, purchasing and payroll.
Kurt lives in Grafton, Wisconsin and is an active sportsman. On weekends, you’ll find him hunting, fishing or working on the family farm.
Phil Carrol
Site Foreman & Master Electrician
Phil has worked with ECW for 13+ years. Originally from Arkansas, Phil moved to Wisconsin after serving in the U.S. Army. Over the years, Phil has mastered the many details of lighting, solar and electrical work. In 2019, he acquired his Master Electrician Certification from the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.
Phil lives with his wife and family in Port Washington, Wisconsin. He enjoys playing in a local dart league and spending time with his family.
James Carlson
Site Foreman & Master Electrician
James Carlson has been with ECW since 2007, starting with doing entry-level lighting installation work. Since then, James has expanded his knowledge base to include solar and electrical, with a particular talent for solar panel installations. He has put in thousands of hours in the field toward his Master Electrician certification, which he acquired from the State of Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.
James lives with his family in West Bend, Wisconsin. He is an avid fisherman and outdoorsman and enjoys spending time in northern Wisconsin.
